I'm David Barker, the managing director of IWDP Solutions.
I began my journey to starting IWDP Solutions as a qualified plasterer and have been in the industry for over 20 years. During that time, I gained extensive knowledge in all aspects of plastering and external rendering.
Working with and for damp proofing companies on the island allowed me to acquire specialist knowledge within the damp and timber treatment industry.
Coupled with my plastering skills, this led me to undertake damp proofing work. The one thing that stood out for me was that only one of the damp proofing companies on the island were recognised by the governing body of the damp and timber industry, the Property Care Association (PCA)
This severely limited the choice available to clients, especially those requiring damp treatments for mortgage purposes. Most lenders insist that the company that carries out the work must be PCA compliant.
That's when I decided to embark on a new journey and start my own company to solve this problem and offer consumers a wider choice.
I am a certified timber and damp surveyor CSTDB, and my company is PCA compliant. We offer you a professional service that is as cost-effective as possible and provides the solutions you need, when you need them.

Damp proofing Problem

Our client had a conservatory added to their property but the adjoining wall had not been professionally treated for damp before installation.

First we carried out a thorough survey to establish the main cause of damp. Once that was established our team injected a new damp proof course and applied a tanking slurry. This stops both rising an penetrating damp. Once completed, our experienced plasterers completed the job to our clients satisfaction.

Our client contacted us because they noticed that their current rendering was falling of the wall and they had no idea why.

We had to establish the cause of the falling render. We carried our thorough inspection and quickly isolated the core problem which was the coping stones on the parapet wall were to narrow. We replaced this with the correct coping stones, removed the old rendering and applied a K-Rend thin coat system.
